The particularity of these plants is that they do not need certain hours of light time to bloom. These Cannabis Seeds bloom whatever light there is, whether little or much. If they lack light, they will give very few flowers; if light abounds, buds can be very generous nowadays. They virtually adapt to any climate and/or latitude.

Not many years ago -five or ten- few people trusted the potential of auto-flowering marijuana plants to obtain high-quality grass. Autoflowering plants, which by then were only known as "ruderalis", were grown more as a curiosity or in places where the weather was very adverse. Varieties from where to choose were very limited and the quality of crops was not very generous, producing little grass, with a "weird" taste and scarce and ridiculously small leaves and flowers.

Back then, there was very little choice, some ruderalis from Sensi Seeds, and some Lowryder from The Joint Doctor. Lowryder has certainly been the first example of great autoflowering genetics development. Canadian breeder Joint Doctor, in its eagerness to unite the quality of European "conventional" and commercial marijuana with Canada's fast-flowering native varieties, worked extensively by crossing different varieties to obtain faster genetics, more flowers, more flavour and more stability than ruderalis. This is how Lowryder was born.

The quality of autoflowering plants started its revolution here. But the results attained from the harvested marijuana at that time were laughable compared to the quality and quantity that autoflowering or automatic genetics provides today.

A few breeders in Europe, understanding the potential of these plants, began to work with them, making hundreds of crosses, testing, backcrossing, sometimes succeeding and at other times failing, in the attempt to get auto-flowering plants of the highest quality, size, flavour, resin and stability. Besides, they succeeded at producing feminized and autoflowering marijuana seeds for the first time.

Some better alternatives to ruderalis and lowryder showed up, such as Maxigom seeds from Grassomatic or Dinafem's Roadrunner. These two seed banks have definitely been pioneers in autoflowering genetics work, feminization and improvement.

Finally, feminized autoflowering plants of an acceptable quality were achieved!

Size begins to increase and the particular "rudelaries" unpleasant smell and taste also begins to gradually disappear.

The work does not end here: with wisdom and experience, mistakes and successes and knowledge in biology genetics and botany, at Dinafem the work continued. They sought to improve what had already been improved, gave it another turn of the screw and two years and a half later, they presented Critical + and Haze to the public, both feminized and autoflowering. These plants which are still automatic, do not taste like ruderalis. They taste like Critical and Haze! They smell like Critical and Haze! And they produce more than any other autoflowering to date!

Seeing the quality of the result obtained during the different Critical and Haze tests, blueberry, cheese, moby dick, og kush , critical Jack also began to be "automatized"...

And this is not all, a steady job of backcrossing and improvement of each of the varieties stills continues. What does that mean? Autoflowering plants are getting better every day, and have nothing to do with those scrawny ruderalis that were once grown out of curiosity...

The advantages of auto-flowering breeding under certain circumstances begin to be clear. They are ideal for novice growers, locations with aggressive climates, to accelerate harvest and confuse thieves. In places with good weather it is possible to obtain three crops a year without worrying about the photoperiod, they can be grown in places with less light…

From here on, many autoflowering plants began to appear on the market. Today, the vast majority of seed bank offer several genetics of this type in their catalogue. Their size and productivity also began to increase...

What is the next surprise these wonderful plants will give us? Will XXL auto-flowering plants be next? Maybe some automated variety of mythical? We'll find out…
