Fashion, sales gimmicks, a humbling job opportunity… Big mascots (there's somebody inside) to take a funny snapshot with are not just for major sports teams. In fact, if you do get a picture with a walking marijuana merchandising promotion, we do not recommend that you post it on Facebook. Here we show what they are, just in case.

Bongman

Origin: Canada

What's that? “It's a bird! It´s a plane! … No, it´s Super Bong!” He has been spotted showing off his phallic figure at several pro-legalisation rallies in Canada. “I come from the plant Chronic, which is covered in cannabis and where every day is a great one. In Chronic there are no wars or problems, and everybody is happy and carefree. The planet has been getting some negative vibrations from Earth, so they sent me to investigate…”… A comforting clarification of his intentions.

Marijuana Muppets

Origin: USA

Who are they? They are at least three characters: Buddy, Bud and Nugget, the new presenters of The Green Report, featuring news on the world of cannabis.

Buddie

Origin: USA

What’s that? The pro-marijuana reformers ResponsibleOhio aim to legalise the ganja industry at the state level. In this pursuit they have created this grass superhero. But Buddie already has a nemesis: The Ohio Children's Hospital Association, which claims that the mascot encourages marijuana consumption by minors. A controversy is born.

Little Buddie

Origin: USA

Colorado, the pioneering American state in its legalisation of recreational marijuana use, is considering creating its own pro-sativa mascot. The design proposed is this smiling, human-like joint. We are eager to see the costume version.

Medicinal Leaf

Origin: USA

What’s that? Last May Washington was the site of a demonstration held in favour of the use of medical cannabis. Many's favourite photo included this humanoid marijuana leaf, an icon that has fast become a classic in cannabis activism.

The Mysterious Plant Man

Origin: Argentina

What’s that? A kind of grass-green Yeti spotted at the Marijuana March in Buenos Aires, a pro-legalisation event held simultaneously in 20 cities around the world.

Bongy

Origin: Canada

What’s that? Bongy is a toker elephant, the mascot of a store selling bongs and other marijuana-related products. For a couple of years now he has been in the cross-hairs of the Esquimalt (British Columbia) city council, which fears that any children who see him will hurl themselves off the cliff of drug addiction.

Herb

Origin: Canada

What’s that? The Hempology society organizes seminars on cannabis culture. Some of them feature Herb, something like a marijuana leaf having suffered an NPK overdose. He´s not much, but clearly the budget allowed for nothing more.

Bonus Track: Ganja Baby

If you want to see more, at brandsonsale.com, for a few dollars you can turn your child into the party's most adorable little mascot. A costume that is bound to leave everyone with eyes like saucers.
