Marijuana is very present in our lives and television, as a reflection of society, is a good sign of this. Characters smoking joints all the time, using therapeutic marijuana to relieve the symptoms of their disease, or warning adolescents about its use are just some of the situations depicted in series in recent years.

WARNING! This article contains numerous TV series spoilers.

We're going to give you ten examples of episodes where cannabis played a special role. And let it be noted that none of them is from "Weeds" (that would be too easy). How many have you seen?

Californication

Hank Moody (David Duchovny), the main character in "Californication", likes sex. A lot. And he also likes grass. And yet, despite his liberal disposition he's not prepared to see his daughter smoking cannabis ... especially when it's his!

Family Guy

Brian is a dog, but he's more rational than the human beings in this zany American series. In one episode he ably argues for the legalization of marijuana, but to little avail. Stewie and his song will have to come along to win over supporters of the cause.

Entourage

The paradise of hemp lovers is found in this episode of "Entourage," the HBO series that portrays the lives of a young Hollywood actor, Vincent Chase, and his friends. In the fifth episode of the first season Chase and company visit "The Sherpa" (played by Val Kilmer), surprised by his cannabis-packed place: plants everywhere, a huge smoking room... do you know anywhere like this?

Breaking Bad

One of the most critically acclaimed shows on Earth cannot live on amphetamines alone. For example, in the second episode of Season 1, Walter (Brian Cranston) rolls a joint with the marijuana at Jesse's (Aaron Paul) house. At this point he is still a much-loved Chemistry teacher, and has a long way to go before he comes a feared drug dealer.

The Simpsons

Among the many subjects dealt with by Matt Groening's yellow family is medical marijuana. In the episode "Weekend at Burnsie's" Homer begins to smoke it, prescribed by Dr. Hibbert, to soothe a pain in the eyes, and begins to trip, having Dumbo-like visions. His highs even lead him to a reading of the Bible by the fundy Flanders.

Sex in the City

If your partner has just dumped you with a Post-it, don't worry: wrap a blanket around your head, go out on the street and smoke a doobie with your best friend. That's what Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) did in "Sex in the City," and we recommend you do the same to get over a break-up.

Frasier

One of the most celebrated sitcoms of the late 90s and early 21st century also had a "grassy" moment. Specifically, it came in Season 11, when Martin (John Mahoney), the father of Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Niles (David Hyde Pierce) have a cannabis brownie by accident. A psychedelic reaction ensues: as he himself says, the medicine he took that morning made him feel "funny."

Desperate Housewives

Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is in treatment for cancer. Her mother (Polly Bergen) prepares her - what a coincidence - some marijuana brownies to cheer her up. What she never suspected was for them to work so well that, when playing charades, she acts out the attempted suicide of a neighbour (played by Nicolette Sheridan Edie) for her team to win a point.

Roseanne

What to do when you find marijuana at home? Well ... just smoke it. Roseanne, the queen of American comedy in the 1990s, also surrendered to the charms of joints. We don't know if the laughter in the background is canned or if there really was an audience at the filming having that much fun, but we love to watch this scene.

Dinosaurs

Lastly, an episode that sows (pun intended) some doubts. On a show that is presumably for kids and families, "Dinosaurs," the characters become giddy from a mysterious plant "that makes you happy," in their words, and looks like that which has given so much joy to so many people all across the planet. We think that they're referring to marijuana, but other suggestions are accepted.
